I’ve been printmaking since 2022 after a big shift in my art practice. Before, I used mostly ink and gouache. I’d draw on flat surfaces with flat media; I’d often finish a piece on a 2-dimensional screen.
But I began to crave texture. I craved connection with the origin of the raw materials and history of a tradition. I craved tactile sensation under my fingers. I wanted to—needed to—bring myself, my art, my process to life again.
Carving into linoleum, rolling on the ink, and feeling the paper release from the block—each step has brought me back into connection.
Perhaps you will also connect with my work. It would be an honor to have my art meet your hands!
Do write if you have any special requests or questions.
Yours,
Gina
P.s. Almost every print I’ve made so far has been carved on scraps of linoleum I’ve saved from the landfill (first was flooring from my kitchen renovation in 2019 and another batch came from a neighbor’s unlucky cut into a piece bound for his tabletop). Hence the blue and yellow colors. I saved these scraps for years, knowing that printmaking was in my future and trusting that it would soon be the right time.
